Located around three hours away from the hustle and bustle of Oslo, surrounded by beautiful nature, a lake and wild mountains 906 meters above sea level, Nosen Yoga Retreat Center is a place dedicated to holistic yoga, delicious healthy food and the tranquility of the mountains. The roots of Nosen Yoga Retreat Center go back all the way to 1888 when it was first a mountain farm and later a Lodge for many years. The magnificent surroundings offer a rich variety of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, all year round. It is the perfect place to relax, hang out, connect with nature and just be. Lakes and mountain are within walking distance, and the Historical Hiking Route Stølsruta passes by the retreat center.

THE WEEKS BEFORE RETREAT

Depending on the payment option you choose during check out, you will be automatically billed using the credit card on file so that all remaining balances have been fully paid at least 4 months in advance of retreat start (at time of ticket purchase, you’re only charged for the initial $1,000 deposit). A few weeks in advance and leading up to the retreat, you’ll get email reminders from us with pertinent on-site details.

Retreat FAQs

We will meet at Nosen Yoga Retreat Center, a one-of-a-kind mountain retreat center in Norway. The retreat center is about three hours from the main capital of Oslo but accessible by train and shuttle transportation easily arranged with the retreat center. See below on more information on ground transportation. You can also click here for more detailed info on how to get there.  

We’ve structured the retreat to be suitable for both newer and experienced yogis. Adjustments will be suggested for all levels, in particular during our more vigorous power yoga practices so everyone is welcome!

Weather is unpredictable and we make no guarantees, but our retreat time in mid-late May is considered a lovely time to travel to Norway. The retreat center is 1,000 meters above sea level and weather patterns can change particularly fast here. Expect lots of wind and still some bits of snow. But also, a lot of sun and light.

Average low/high temperatures in this area in May are 37/57°F and 3/14°C. Depending on where you’re coming from, this might feel a bit chilly for May so make sure you pack accordingly. Again, weather patterns are particularly unpredictable these days so make sure to check the weather report yourself closer to the trip -according to the retreat center, YR.NO is a good resource (look up “Ron”). All classes will be indoor and with huge windows showing off the unspoiled beauty and nature of our surroundings!

We currently expect around 32 participants, which is relatively a small group experience for us.

In addition to clothes, toiletries, and other things you would normally pack for a trip like this, we recommend you bring the following: yoga clothes, warm clothes such as sweaters and windbreaker/warm jacket, hat, gloves, sunglasses, sunscreen, bathing suit (although it might be cold, in case you want to indulge in lake activities), closed toe shoes (if hiking or running), ear plugs (if you have a roommate), water bottle (Norway has one of the most delicious and drinkable clean tap water in Europe!), etc.  

All yoga mats and props will be available at the hotel so no need to bring if you’d rather not!

Rooms will generally be available for check in at 3:00 PM. Check out is at 11:00 AM. 

Tax and tip for all group meals, classes and activities are included in your ticket price so no need to tip separately after group meals, classes or activities. Feel free to tip any support staff that you believe have gone above and beyond at the end of the retreat at your discretion, but again, only if you really want to. 

Travis is hoping that the retreat can be an immersive experience for you to reconnect to your practice and reflect inwards. So we recommend things like enjoying the mountains and scenery, journaling, walking/sitting meditation or just even rest during break times. If you’re the adventurous type and are looking for more action, the retreat center offers guided hikes or you can rent a canoe or SUP board and paddle around in the lake. The retreat center can also help arrange for fishing or horseback riding, which you can ask about at the time of check-in. Please note, to the extent you sign up for any personal excursions, it will be on your own dime and at your own risk.   

This retreat is about taking care of yourself so please feel free to do what feels appropriate and best for your body, mind and spirit. 

The restaurant at the retreat center is renowned for its wonderful vegetarian food with Indian and Mediterranean influences. Think simple, homemade and delicious. For example, the retreat center makes their own fresh nut butters (peanut, almond, walnut, etc.), seasonal jams and yogurt for the breakfast menu. Vegan, dairy-free and gluten-free options will be available as well.  Please make sure to note any dietary restrictions during check out! 

In the café (for separate purchase), they also serve coffees, chai masala, Japanese tea / different tea infusions and homemade cakes. Alcohol is not served or sold at the retreat center. If you decide to bring alcoholic beverages for your own consumption, the retreat center asks that you consume it privately in your room and take the bottles and any leftovers with you.

As far as we’re concerned, this retreat is ON! Please note, we are only human and there are always things outside of our reasonable control (such as boarders closing, acts of war & terrorism, natural disasters, etc.) that might require us to change plans, but that’s what travel insurance is for and this is a risk that you would have with any travel. So the answer is, whenever you feel comfortable. 

Yes! If flying in from abroad, choose to land at Oslo Gardermoen Airport (OSL) which is connected to Oslo Airport Gardermoen train station. From there, take a train to Oslo Central Station (Oslo S) then transfer on to the Oslo-Bergen line. Trains depart several times daily from Oslo Central Station (Oslo S) to Gol, your final stop. From there, retreat center staff can come and pick you up for a fee of 350 NOK / pp. Please check-in with the retreat center about the pick-up time and transport availability by sending them an email at [email protected], prior to booking any train tickets.

Even in the rare instance that Inner Dimension TV needs to cancel or reschedule the retreat due to “acts of god” including Covid-19 related shut downs, we will only be able to refund ticket costs at most, and would not in any instance be able to compensate you for other costs, such as flights booked, etc. Due to this concern, we highly recommend that you purchase personal travel insurance.  

We suggest that you include “cancel for any reason” with your policy and include medical coverage. Many insurance policies must be purchased within 14 days of making your reservation so please prioritize accordingly. Some credit cards also come with travel insurance benefits which you might want to consider. Here is a helpful site to compare different policies based on your specific needs.

We don’t have a separate block for this but the retreat center has informed us that they will try to accommodate guest requests as much as they can. Please email us at [email protected] if you need extra nights. 

In order to secure the venue and programming, Inner Dimension TV is required to enter into binding contracts with 3rd parties that do not allow for refund or cancellation in any instance except for limited instances where “acts of god” render the entire event impossible. For example, if due to the COVID-19 pandemic worsening, Nosen Yoga Retreat Center must close down, then we would be able to get a refund and refund all ticket holders. Otherwise, unfortunately, we must enforce a strict cancellation policy and there will be no refunds in any instance. You may transfer your ticket under certain conditions. Also, purchasing trip insurance to protect yourself is always a good idea. 

You may transfer your ticket to another person up to 3-days before the retreat start date without penalty by emailing us at [email protected]. After that time, our strict cancellation policy applies.

Yes! Just email us at [email protected] with a description of your partner’s needs (for example, partner would like to participate in meals and excursions but skip the yoga classes, etc.) and we can give you options that work for you.

Unfortunately, this won’t be possible. The retreat center rooms are minimalistic and set for retreat life, so for anyone who books a double, please note that there will likely be up to four separate single beds in your room that can’t be moved or reconfigured. To be clear, although some rooms will have up to four beds in it, the max occupancy for any room during our retreat will be max two, so if you and your partner both book tickets for a double room, then you will be the only people sharing the room.

One of our goals at Inner Dimension TV is to expand the scope of offerings to better serve our community online and increasingly in-person as well.
