Retreat FAQs

We will meet at Playa Viva, a one-of-a-kind Eco Luxury boutique hotel, conveniently located just 35-minutes south of Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa International Airport (ZIH). Ground transportation from ZIH airport to Playa Viva is include in your ticket price and we will be in touch to coordinate details. Click here for more detailed info on how to get there and answers to other FAQs regarding the hotel.

We’ve structured the retreat to be suitable for both newer and experienced yogis. Adjustments will be suggested for all levels, in particular during our more vigorous power yoga practices so everyone is welcome!

Weather is unpredictable and we make no guarantees, but Playa Viva enjoys a year-round semi-tropical climate with approximately 300 sunny days a year. Our retreat time in early December is considered high season and prime time to travel with low rain and average temperatures in the range of 70 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit (21 to 30 degrees Celsius).

All classes will be in covered open-air outdoor space so we get some shade from the sun and also have no issues even in the rare chance of rain. The practice space is on the beach – get ready for some epic ocean views!

We currently expect around 38 participants, which is relatively a small group experience for us.

In addition to clothes, toiletries, and other things you would normally pack for a trip like this, we recommend you bring the following: yoga clothes, flip flops, bathing suit, light sweaters or wraps for cool nights, closed toe shoes (if hiking or running), light long sleeve shirt and pants to protect yourself from mosquitoes, portable flash light for seeing at night, ear plugs (as you are close to the ocean and it can get loud), hat, sunscreen, and insect repellent (Playa Viva recommends Repel brand lemon eucalyptus mosquito repellent). All yoga mats and props will be available at the hotel so no need to bring if you’d rather not!

Rooms will generally be available for check in at 3:00 PM. Check out is at 11:00 AM. You should feel free to contact Playa Viva directly at [email protected] for any special requests.

Tax and tip for all group meals, classes and activities are included in your ticket price so no need to tip separately after group meals, classes or activities. Feel free to tip any support staff that you believe have gone above and beyond at the end of the retreat at your discretion, but again, only if you really want to.

Travis is hoping that the retreat can be an immersive experience for you to reconnect to your practice and reflect inwards. So we recommend things like enjoying the beach or pool, journaling, walking/sitting meditation or just even rest during break times. Spa treatments are also available and you can sign up for any upon check-in (not included in ticket price). If you’re the adventurous type and are looking for more action, the resort offers a variety of excursions that you can sign up for upon check-in as well (more info here). Please note, to the extent you sign up for any personal excursions, it will be on your own dime and at your own risk.

Playa Viva describes their food as healthy Mexican. They focus on traditional Mexican meals, but cook with minimal oil and healthy, local ingredients. They strive to get as many organic ingredients as possible and grow as much of their food on site as they can (on their small farm). Farm to table is an aspirational goal for them with the objective that the chef and kitchen team have a direct relationship with the producers of each item on your plate.

Below is an example of what you might find on a particular day during your Retreat:

Breakfast might be oatmeal, local fruit (such as papaya, melon, watermelon, pineapple), yogurt, tortillas, fresh eggs, fresh orange juice, tea (from local herbs like mint, limon, etc.) and coffee (local and organic).

Lunch might be sopes (handmade thick tortillas filled with beans and topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, etc.) with a fresh salad of tomatoes, nopalitos, verdolaga (purslane) and maybe a vegetable soup plus aguas frescas to drink.

Dinner might include a tortilla soup, caesar salad, fresh red snapper, ceviche, a variety of vegetarian dishes and maybe some chicken taquitos.

Snacks during the day might include frozen grapes, paletas (fresh fruit popsicles), organic popcorn, jicama/carrot/cucumber slices with lemon/salt/chile, or a margarita pizza with fresh tomatoes.

In summary, the food will consist of plenty of fresh and local plant-based cuisine with an occasional meat or fish dish. Vegan, dairy-free and gluten-free options will be available as well. Please make sure to note any dietary restrictions during check out! Alcohol and blended drinks are not included with your ticket price but will be available onsite for separate purchase.

As far as we’re concerned, this retreat is ON! Please note, we are only human and there are always things outside of our reasonable control (such as boarders closing, acts of war & terrorism, natural disasters, etc.) that might require us to change plans, but that’s what travel insurance is for and this is a risk that you would have with any travel. So the answer is, whenever you feel comfortable.

Yes! On the day the retreat starts and ends, ground transportation to and from ZIH airport to Playa Viva will be arranged by us and is included with your ticket price. A few months prior to the start of the retreat, we will reach out to you to collect your travel details and let you know what to expect in terms of ground transportation options.

If you test positive before or during the retreat, you will not be allowed to attend and there are no refunds. We encourage you to purchase a comprehensive “cancel for any reason” trip insurance policy to protect yourself if this is a concern. Social distancing and mask wearing may be implemented (although currently, assuming rules & regulations stay the same, we intend to make mask wearing during classes optional).

Lastly, please note any interaction with the general public poses an elevated risk of being exposed to COVID-19 and we cannot guarantee that you will not be exposed while in attendance at the event.

Even in the rare instance that Inner Dimension TV needs to cancel or reschedule the retreat due to “acts of god” including Covid-19 related shut downs, we will only be able to refund ticket costs at most, and would not in any instance be able to compensate you for other costs, such as flights booked, etc. Due to this concern, we highly recommend that you purchase personal travel insurance.

We suggest that you include “cancel for any reason” with your policy and include medical coverage. Many insurance policies must be purchased within 14 days of making your reservation so please prioritize accordingly. Some credit cards also come with travel insurance benefits which you might want to consider. Here is a helpful site to compare different policies based on your specific needs.

We don’t have a separate block for this but the hotel has informed us that they will try to accommodate guest requests as much as they can. Please email Playa Viva direct at [email protected] if you need extra nights.

In order to secure the venue and programming, Inner Dimension TV is required to enter into binding contracts with 3rd parties that do not allow for refund or cancellation in any instance except for limited instances where “acts of god” render the entire event impossible. For example, if due to the COVID-19 pandemic worsening, Playa Viva must close down, then we would be able to get a refund and refund all ticket holders. Otherwise, unfortunately, we must enforce a strict cancellation policy and there will be no refunds in any instance. You may transfer your ticket under certain conditions. Also, purchasing trip insurance to protect yourself is always a good idea.

You may transfer your ticket to another person up to 3-days before the retreat start date without penalty by emailing us at [email protected]. After that time, our strict cancellation policy applies.

Depending on the payment option you choose during check out, you will be automatically billed using the credit card on file so that all remaining balances have been fully paid at least 4 months in advance of retreat start (at time of ticket purchase, you’re only charged for the initial $1,000 deposit). As noted above, we have a strict cancellation policy with no refunds (including for any deposits) so please make sure you have sufficient funds ready to pay any remaining balances as they become due.

Yes! Just email us at [email protected] with a description of your partner’s needs (for example, partner would like to participate in meals and excursions but skip the yoga classes, etc.) and we can give you options that work for you.

This is possible! Each of you should still purchase the double ticket if you intend to both participate in all aspects of the Retreat and send a note to [email protected] just noting that you would prefer a King bed.

Guests often describe Playa Viva as a “luxury camp for adults.” The resort has been built with the purpose of sustainability and community; therefore, most accommodations require at least double occupancy. Even if you’re someone who’s typically used to a single room, maybe open your mind and try out a quadruple occupancy ticket? Most of the quadruple occupancy accommodations consist of two buildings that comfortably fit 4-6 people. We will do our best to assign solo travelers to accommodations with other same gender guests. If you’re still unsure and would like to ask about a single room, please email us at [email protected] and we’ll see what we can do!

One of our goals at Inner Dimension TV is to expand the scope of offerings to better serve our community online and increasingly in-person as well. So look forward to some exciting announcements to come on future in-person retreats in addition to an annual summit! And of course, we recommend that you also practice with us online through your Inner Dimension TV subscription and Academy course registrations as well.
